In collaboration with the Chief of Party, the Deputy Chief of Party is responsible for the administration, fiscal management, and grant management of the USAID-funded Tajikistan Stability Enhancement Program (TSEP.) TSEP includes conflict mitigation, economic development and social revitalization activities to address the causes of instability in Tajikistan, assuring quality, impact and cost effectiveness of the project. The Deputy Chief of Party will work with the Chief of Party to develop program strategy and ensure that it continues to meet USAID requirements and standards. The Deputy Chief of Party will directly manage local project staff and will work closely with them to ensure timely, quality and coordinated implementation of activities. The level of oversight will require substantial travel to field sites. The position will also be responsible for some donor communication, including submission of narrative reports as required.

Qualifications:
• MA or equivalent in a social science, international studies or management, or related field, and three years of field experience in international relief and development programs.
• Three years or more of practical experience in community-based programming, capacity building and civil society development.
• An understanding of the potential underlying causes of conflict, and an ability to be able to recognize and monitor conflict. Experience with conflict analysis or conflict mitigation programming preferred.
• Prior experience with USAID and/or other bilateral funding agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to function as a social entrepreneur and proven success with building, managing and leading a team of professionals and the ability to function as a team player among peers.
• Successful and proven negotiation, communication, organization, and prioritization skills and experience.
• Experience in Central Asia and/or the former Soviet Union, with a demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to people and issues of the region.
• The ability and desire to grow individually and professionally.
• Fluency in English required.  Russian or Tajik, or other regional language skills preferred.

- Graduate degree and professional experience in business, economics, journalism, mass communications, law, international relations, political science, government, or public policy. Candidates without a graduate degree must demonstrate extensive and equivalent professional experience in their field.

Seeking a full-time research assistant to work in our Russian Studies department.

This position will be responsible for providing research, writing, and editing support to scholars regarding Russian foreign and domestic policies, with an emphasis on economics, politics, and U.S.-Russian relations.   Other duties include developing and organizing conferences, panel discussions, and events; overseeing long-term projects; scheduling; and administrative support.  

Qualifications:
This position requires excellent writing, communication, and research skills. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in Russian and Eurasian studies and should be well-organized and academically curious.  Proficiency in Russian speaking, reading, and writing is required.
