Description:
The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking undergraduate or graduate candidates or recent graduates for internships with NDI's Eurasia programs for the first quarter of 2010. The intern will be responsible for providing administrative support for country programs, conducting country and program-specific research, and attending meetings on related countries in Eurasia.
Duties
- Research and gather materials for country specific programs;
- Assist in supporting field offices’ activities;
- Attend external meetings and seminars and prepare oral and written presentations to team members;
- Assist in the preparation and drafting of periodic reports;
- Provide administrative support to assigned country programs, including filing, faxing, copying, mailing, and/or event preparation; and
- Maintain records of country expenditures and prepare drafts of budgets;
- Read and summarize news articles on countries in Eurasia;
- Conduct special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in Eurasia;
- Generally pursing a undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate; relevant degree programs might include, but are not limited to, political science, international relations, international development, and Russian studies;
- Well-organized and skilled in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work with a team;
- Russian language skills useful, but not required.
