Description:
Freedom House is seeking a Managing Editor for Nations in Transit, its annual analysis of democratic development in the countries of the former Soviet Union, and Southeastern and Central Europe. The position is based in Freedom House's New York office. The principal responsibility of the Editor will be to oversee the editorial management of this publication. The candidate should have strong editing, proofreading and project management skills, and should be able to multitask. Duties will include, but are not limited to: providing editorial and research oversight for country reports, overseeing the administrative and editorial coordination of studies and reports, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of international affairs, with a focus on political conditions in the countries of the former Soviet Union, and Southeastern and Central Europe. Candidates should be familiar with assessment methodologies. Experience in research and writing on democracy and human rights issues preferred. Ability to speak more than one language is helpful. Master's degree preferred.
