Title: Assistant Program Officer, Russia

Description:
The Assistant Program Officer (APO) will provide significant programmatic support to the Endowment’s small grants activities in Russia, and will provide administrative support to other country programs as required.  The APO will travel to Russia approximately 2-3 times per year.
Responsibilities:
  • Draft summaries of proposals to present at quarterly Board meetings;
  • Assist in the evaluation of project proposals;
  • Communicate regularly with existing grantees;
  • Assist in monitoring the work of existing grantees;
  • Tracking political developments in Russia;
  • Organize events to highlight specific democracy-related issues;
  • Provide administrative support to  the Russia and Eurasia Section;
  • Travel to Russia on a regular basis to monitor existing grantees and identify potential grantees.


Qualifications:
  • Master’s level education or equivalent knowledge in International Relations, Political Science, or a related discipline is required;
  • Written and oral fluency in Russian is required;
  • At least 2 years of experience in democracy related work in Russia and Eurasia is preferred;
  • At least a year of experience living in Russia is preferred;
  • In-depth knowledge of political issues and trends in Russia;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
  • MS Office Skills required, particularly Excel;
  • Demonstrated high degree of organization, initiative, and commitment;
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
