IREX seeks a Civic Education Program Director to support a potential program supported by the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia.  The program, entitled  “Civic Education through English Language”, is envisioned as a two- year project with a possible one year extension to improve English-language teaching and learning in Georgian schools, in order to support Euro-Atlantic integration, promote Western democratic values, improve students’ capacity for higher and continuing education, and increase marketable job skills among Georgian youth.  The direct beneficiaries of this program will be Georgian students and teachers of English at the primary and secondary school levels (grades 1 through 12).

IREX seeks applicants for the position of Program Director based in Tbilisi.  The Director will oversee staff and provide oversight of budget, operational and technical issues.  Regional travel will be required.
 
 
Qualifications:
University degree in relevant field, masters preferred
Minimum 7 years experience in international development, preferably focused on civic education, democratic engagement, and/or English language instruction.
Demonstrated management of international assistance programs.
Training or other technical skills.
Strong writing, editing and oral presentation skills, evidenced by professional experience and success.
Experience in Georgia preferred. 
Georgian and/or Russian language skills preferred.
