Description:

The Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center of the Atlantic Council of the United States seeks a talented, entrepreneurial Assistant Director to help develop, manage and implement projects and programs on and in the region extending from East-Central Europe to and through Central Asia.

The successful candidate for this position will have a strong interest and track record on the Eurasian region.  S/he will have excellent research, writing and people skills; be a self-starter ready for greater responsibility who is proficient in working independently and collaborating with others to achieve results; and be able to develop and implement strategies for effective public outreach and engagement with key constituencies.

•    Planning:  Work with the director and others to plan activities that will advance the Center’s goals and objectives.
•    Project Management:  Undertake all aspects of project development and implementation, including the preparation of project budgets and compiling grant proposals.
•    Writing/Publications:  Write and/or edit materials for publication, including reports, event summaries, website content, etc.
•    Resource Management:  Manage Center funding and budgeting in coordination with the Council’s Chief Financial Officer, as well as overall Center administration.
•    Human Resources:  Train, mentor and supervise Center interns.
•    Other:  Support the Center director and Atlantic Council leadership in other ways, as directed, toward ensuring the success of the Center’s and Council’s missions.

Qualifications:
•    Master’s degree in international affairs or another relevant field; 3-5 years of work experience strongly preferred.
•    Experience on the Eurasian region and on transatlantic issues.
•    Excellent English writing, organizational and administrative skills; experience in grant writing and in working with data bases highly desirable.
•    Strong interpersonal skills; must be able to manage interns and work well with colleagues, senior Council staff and external officials and partners.
•    Russian or another Eurasian language desirable.
